About Ben Somerson
Ben Somerson is a Quality Manager & Auditor within the construction and engineering industry with a strong focus on efficiency, accountability, and process improvement. Born and raised in Penrith, Ben and his wife moved to Toongabbie in 2018.
Ben became increasingly concerned when he witnessed the erosion of fundamental human rights during the COVID-19 pandemic. Restrictions on freedom of speech, the right to protest peacefully, and the right to free movement were just some of the liberties being curtailed by the government. While Ben initially had little interest in political involvement, seeing the damaging effects of government overreach, excessive regulation, high taxes and the limits on personal freedoms, he decided to take action and step forward as a candidate.
Ben stands for a smaller, more efficient government that upholds individual freedoms. He advocates for lower taxes, reduced bureaucratic red tape, less government waste, and greater protection of human rights, ensuring that individuals and businesses have the freedom to succeed without unnecessary restrictions.
To the Parramatta Community
I was born and raised in Penrith, and moved to Toongabbie in 2018 only a year after of meeting the woman who would become my wife and we’ve loved being part of the local community ever since.
I have always cheered for the western NRL teams, the Parramatta Eels still hold a special place in my heart as my second favourite team, and I care deeply about the future of our region.
I built my career in quality management across the construction and engineering industries, where I’ve spent years focused on efficiency, accountability, and getting things done without the unnecessary red tape—something our political system could use a lot more of.
What pushed me into politics wasn’t ambition—it was frustration. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I watched as governments rapidly chipped away at basic freedoms: speech, movement, peaceful protest. It became clear that our rights were not as secure as they should be. That’s when I decided it was time to get off the sidelines.
Parramatta deserves a representative who listens—not lectures. Someone who believes that you know how to live your life better than any politician or bureaucrat.
Let’s bring common sense back to politics. Let’s fight for a freer, fairer Parramatta.
I ask for your vote in the sincere belief that we can do better.
Ben Somerson
Candidate for Parramatta
