The biggest issue right now for Australian families is the high cost of living. Inflation enriches the government at the expense of hardworking Australians. Inflation is the silent thief of your hard-earned money. Australia’s abundant natural resources once formed the backbone of a prosperous economy.

Today, energy costs burden families and businesses, with an increasingly unstable electricity supply. Rising energy costs strain families and small businesses, stifle the economy, and undermine Australia’s potential for growth. The reasons behind this crisis are unmistakable. Bans on cheap resources, and subsidies on unreliable renewables, have hindered access to cheap, reliable energy.

Cheap, reliable electricity is the lifeblood of Western society, the single most transformative technology that has lifted millions out of poverty by powering homes, industries, and innovation. In Australia, we’re sitting on vast reserves of coal and gas, resources that could fuel affordable energy for all, yet we’re shipping them off to China, where they’re burned in power plants to manufacture wind turbines and solar systems sold back to us at a premium.

Wind turbines, erratic and weather-dependent, can’t deliver the consistent energy we need; they’re a flimsy band-aid, not a solution. Instead, we should harness our own coal and gas to power local manufacturing of solar systems, installing them on existing residential rooftops. This keeps energy cheap, jobs here, and our economy strong, relying on our strengths, not China’s.
