We, the undersigned residents of Port Stephens and the Hunter, call on Premier Chris Minns and the NSW Government for the immediate removal of Kate Washington MP from her position as Minister for Families and Communities.

Kate Washington has repeatedly failed the people she was elected to serve.

• Favouritism with public funds: The Minister overruled her own department's advice to approve a $15,000 ex-gratia payment to a foster carer with direct links to the Labor Party in the Hunter. She then further settled that same carer's overpayment of about $40,000 using taxpayer money. These decisions raise serious concerns about integrity, accountability, and the misuse of taxpayer money.
• Abandoning local communities: Despite strong local opposition, Kate Washington has refused to stand against the Federal Labor Government's controversial Hunter offshore windfarm. She has dismissed the valid concerns of Port Stephens residents about the threat to our coastline, marine environment, tourism, fishing, and visual amenity, claiming it is merely a "federal matter." Port Stephens families deserve a local member who will fight for them, not hide behind bureaucracy.

As Minister responsible for families and communities, Kate Washington's actions show she cannot be trusted to act fairly or put the interests of our community first. We demand better representation and accountability.
